Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What style of martial arts do you teach?
A: We teach Bok Fu Do, a comprehensive and adapting system of self-defense. In our classes you will learn a range of self-defense moves, fighting techniques, and katas. In addition to Bok Fu Do, we offer San Shou kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Q: How do I get started?
A: Call us for your free introductory lesson! Schedule a day to come in for a private lesson with a certified instructor, and then try a week free in our regular classes. If you love us, we'll guide you through the enrollment process. We offer a month-to-month memberhip with no long term commitment.
Q: How old does my child have to be to start lessons?
A: Our kids' Bok Fu program is open to all children 3 years and older.
Q: Am I too old to start martial arts?
A: You are never too old for martial arts! We have a variety of martial arts to fit individual needs, and the instructors are able to adjust to meet each student's level in order for the student to best progress and succeed.
Q: Do you have any female instructors?
A: We are proud to present our amazing team of instructors, including co-owner Lisa Nunez. For a complete list of instructors, click here.
Q: Do I need to be in shape to join?
A: Martial arts is a great way to get INTO shape, and we do not hold any prerequisites for students to enroll. However, martial arts can be at times a strenuous activity, and a physician's approval is recommended. Again, we offer a variety of systems to fit individual needs. Contact us for more information on which martial art might be best for you.
Q: How will martial arts benefit my child?
A: In addition to learning self-defense and engaging in physical fitness, your child will learn values already taught at home. We reinforce respect and hard work in our students, and stress to them when it is acceptable to use their martial arts as self-defense. As your child moves on to intermediate and advanced classes, he or she will enter more rigorous training with greater emphasis on technique and structure. While we want your child to learn to defend, we also like to keep the energy of our classes fun and engaging, so that everyone enjoys their classes.
